Welcome to Nordik

I owe you an explanation.

I disappeared. I went radio silent.

The truth is, I was and still am grieving.

I haven’t known how to move forward.

At the end of May, I lost my Morfar (my Swedish grandad).

Losing him, trying to process the fact he’s no longer here, I’m not ashamed to say I became a bit of a recluse. Loss has a funny way of playing with your emotions and thought process.

I’m also not afraid to say I’ve somewhat over the past year or so being falling out of love with the hospitality industry. In turn, it’s put me off the very thing I love… cooking.

But let’s cut the long story short. I’ve slowly started to come back. Slowly, with the help of people I hold very dear to me, have pulled me up. Chris (Grandad who gave me my medicine), you’ve given me a sense of purpose again. Emily, you’ve kept pushing me to find my love for food again. There’s countless other people I could mention but I’ve written too much as is.

So here’s to the return of Nordik.
